Senior Process Engineer Innovation Wheat & Rye

Bühler seeks a Senior Process Engineer for its Wheat & Rye unit in Uzwil to lead innovation in grain processing technology and drive sustainable milling solutions.

The company is looking for an expert to join the Wheat & Rye Business Unit in Uzwil, reporting directly to the Head of Process Technology Innovation. In this position, you will be responsible for steering technological progress throughout the entire value chain, from initial concept to market delivery, ensuring that milling operations remain efficient and forward-looking.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement next-generation process solutions for wheat and rye milling, guiding projects from initial idea through to successful deployment.
• Combine process technology, machinery, automation, and digital tools to design state-of-the-art, cost-effective milling systems.
• Test and refine concepts by conducting trials, managing pilot projects, supporting customer applications, and overseeing plant start-ups.
• Offer technical guidance and practical expertise to Sales, Quotation, Fulfillment, and R&D departments, while mentoring staff to build internal milling knowledge.
• Assess and create new technologies, machines, and digital solutions to enhance milling capabilities.
• Design technology concepts for customer projects and strategic inquiries that provide lasting value to the global milling sector.

Requirements

• Possess deep milling expertise, backed by a diploma from the Swiss Milling School (SMS) or the Deutsche Müllerschule Braunschweig (DMSB).
• Have a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in milling roles, such as Technologist, Head Miller, or Production Manager.
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of Bühler milling equipment and control systems, along with systematic problem-solving abilities.
• Be fluent in both German and English.
