Syngenta Group seeks a Senior Team Leader for Process Technology in Muenchwilen, CH. The role leads lab technicians in scaling chemical reactions and integrates chemistry with data science.

This position focuses on leading a small team of lab technicians to develop and scale chemical reactions for manufacturing. The role sits at the intersection of chemistry, data, and technology, requiring the holder to maintain deep process knowledge while driving pilot campaigns and ensuring digital confidence in experimental design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 1-3 lab technicians in a chemistry lab setting.
  • Define and oversee experimental programs to create safe, sustainable chemical processes suitable for the current development stage.
  • Design lab experiments and pilot campaigns to build process understanding and technical know-how.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and good laboratory practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of lab results and project requirements.
  • Facilitate the transfer of process knowledge in coordination with project leads.
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Prepare inputs for cost estimates and support the department in specialist capacities.
  • Propose, support, and implement improvement projects to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure the efficient use of all provided resources.

Requirements

  • PhD in organic chemistry or chemical engineering, typically accompanied by Post Doc experience or equivalent background.
  • Practical hands-on experience in organic chemistry.
  • Fluent proficiency in English.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to identify trends and simplify complex information.
  • Proven track record of working within project timelines in dynamic environments.
  • Experience in data science, statistics, modelling, automation, or process analytical techniques, or experience collaborating with experts in these fields.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of German and French is advantageous.
  • Basic familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or R, or a willingness to learn these tools.
