Senior Power Trader (f/m/d)

Axpo Group seeks a Senior Power Trader in Baden, CH, to design and execute proprietary trading strategies across the CWE region, leveraging expertise in European power markets and cross-commodity spreads.

This position sits within the Proprietary Power Trading Desk, where the focus remains on advancing the company's internal strategic goals rather than managing client flow. The role involves developing and refining trading approaches to enhance profitability while adhering to established risk parameters.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize proprietary trading strategies to boost profitability within internal risk limits.
• Execute short- and long-term contracts across the CWE region, with a primary focus on France and Germany.
• Identify and exploit cross-commodity opportunities in Gas, Coal, CO₂, and Power spreads by applying options expertise.
• Trade on major exchanges such as EEX, EPEX SPOT, Nord Pool, GME, OTE, PXE, and HUPX.
• Take part in cross-border auctions and power tenders.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in European Power trading, including a minimum of four years demonstrating success in CWE markets.
• Strong grasp of the European energy transition, including renewables penetration, thermal merit orders, and cross-border flow dynamics.
• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Fluent English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Python or SQL for data analysis and back-testing strategies.
• Knowledge of German, French, or Italian.
