Senior Project Engineer

Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior Project Engineer in Schaffhausen to lead large capital projects, manage multi-million-dollar budgets, and ensure strict compliance with J&J standards and safety regulations.

The company is looking for a senior technical authority to oversee capital projects from initial planning through to commissioning. This role involves leading engineering design changes, managing complex budgets, and ensuring that all construction activities align with rigorous quality and safety expectations.

Responsibilities

• Direct multi-functional engineering strategies to satisfy schedule, budget, quality, and regulatory targets.
• Guarantee that all engineering solutions comply with J&J standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage multi-million-dollar capital budgets, including cost monitoring, procurement support, and contractor evaluation.
• Participate in bid reviews for contractors and assist in value-engineering decisions.
• Develop and integrate project schedules, identifying critical path items and driving mitigation strategies.
• Maintain a proactive risk register, recommend mitigations, and track performance metrics.
• Provide senior owner-side engineering oversight during construction and commissioning to ensure contractor performance matches design intent and J&J EHS standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure EHS compliance on site.
• Maintain detailed engineering records, design documentation, and as-built information.
• Prepare and present executive-level status updates, technical summaries, and risk briefings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management required.
• 10+ years of experience leading capital projects, preferably in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or similar).
• Demonstrated owner-side engineering leadership and experience working with A&E and Construction Management firms.
• Experience leading multi-discipline teams and collaborating with quality, EHS, operations, and external consultants.
