Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior Global Project Manager in Basel to lead medical device development projects, ensuring compliance with design controls and driving cross-functional team performance.
This position focuses on translating device strategy into actionable plans by collaborating with the Technical Development Team Lead and Device Team Leader. The role demands independent management of diverse projects, ranging from development pipelines and line extensions to post-approval and continuous improvement initiatives. It requires flexibility for global time zone interactions and occasional travel, operating with limited direction in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain 'inspection ready' Design and Development Plans, including contingency strategies.
- Drive team activities to ensure all project and design control deliverables are met on schedule.
- Facilitate effective communication and team performance within a regulated environment.
- Align program milestones across Core, Lifecycle, and Technical Development teams with the Device Team plan.
- Apply project management best practices for planning, collaboration, risk management, and budget tracking.
- Ensure transparent communication of key information and escalate issues when necessary.
- Foster positive team dynamics through team building and a collaborative environment.
- Facilitate efficient decision-making and issue resolution.
- Identify team risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Manage project scope and facilitate necessary changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 8 to 11 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a relevant industry.
- Experience in project management in drug and/or medical device development and commercialization, particularly with combination products.
- Proficiency in Project Management best practices and software (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Google suite).
- Knowledge of 21CFR820.30 design control requirements.
- Experience with vendor / partner collaboration.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects independently in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Fluent English is required.
Nice to have
- Preferably within a global medical device, pharmaceutical, or biopharmaceutical company.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- German, Japanese or Danish is of advantage.
