Hexagon Robotics seeks a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the development of teleoperation systems for humanoid robots in Zurich. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on software and hardware integration.
Hexagon Robotics builds humanoid robots for industrial use to help companies move from automation to autonomy. This position is responsible for owning and advancing the teleoperation capabilities of these machines, bridging the gap between human operators and robotic systems through software, hardware, and user experience design.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of the teleoperation software stack, moving from prototype stages to final product implementation.
- Take full ownership of the operator experience, focusing on control precision, system responsiveness, usability, and situational awareness.
- Implement technical improvements to reduce latency, increase reliability, and enhance control fidelity.
- Design and refine user interface and user experience concepts for operators.
- Assess and integrate teleoperation hardware components, including VR headsets, motion tracking systems, and haptic feedback devices.
- Establish and execute the technical roadmap for teleoperation and human-robot interaction.
- Work closely with teams specializing in perception, control, motion planning, and hardware engineering.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and mentorship within the teleoperation domain.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in robotics, teleoperation, human-machine interfaces, or similar fields.
- Deep understanding of robot kinematics, control systems, and human-machine interaction principles.
- Mandatory proficiency in C++ and/or Python programming languages.
- Practical experience working with ROS2 and distributed robotic systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with agentic workflows is expected.
- Knowledge of WebRTC, DDS, VR/AR technologies, or WebXR is a plus.
- Experience with usability testing and operator-driven workflows is advantageous.
