Senior Software Engineer - AI & Search

Squirro seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Zürich to design and scale AI-driven search solutions. The role focuses on backend development, NLP, and generative AI within a remote-friendly, agile environment.

This position sits within the EMEA Engineering team and is dedicated to developing and expanding intelligent search and generative AI capabilities. The role exists to transform complex, unstructured data into actionable insights, bridging the gap between advanced AI technologies and tangible business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Architect, code, and refine the search and AI modules that drive the core platform.
• Collaborate across natural language processing, retrieval mechanisms, generative AI, and distributed infrastructure to deliver new features.
• Team up with product managers and other developers to convert concepts into functional products.
• Own the full lifecycle of features from initial design through deployment, using data to track performance and drive improvements.

Requirements

• Proven track record of constructing and scaling backend architectures, preferably in data-intensive or search-focused domains using Python.
• Deep understanding of Elasticsearch or comparable search engines, alongside a strong grasp of distributed systems principles.
• Working knowledge of NLP methodologies, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or general AI and machine learning concepts.
