Senior Software Engineer - Knowledge Graph & GraphRAG

Squirro seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Zürich to develop enterprise AI solutions using knowledge graphs and GraphRAG for regulated industries.

The company develops enterprise AI platforms tailored for regulated sectors, merging knowledge graphs with generative AI. This position focuses on transforming emerging research capabilities into stable product features and creating graph-native tools for AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the current knowledge-graph base to finalize and productize integration features.
• Improve and expand GraphRAG methodologies into a collection of interconnected modules.
• Develop a growing suite of agentic GraphRAG tools, including retrieving ontology schemas via SPARQL and graph search.
• Expand the BBO ontology, investigate transparent BPMN, and expose tool libraries to agents through GraphRAG.
• Regularly benchmark and optimize performance, identify and fix edge cases, and maintain up-to-date documentation and training resources.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and sales teams to pinpoint use cases and deliver scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Proven track record of designing and scaling backend systems in Python, preferably data-intensive applications.
• Practical expertise with knowledge graphs and semantic web standards: RDF, SPARQL, ontologies (OWL/SKOS), and triplestores.
• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation, LLMs, embeddings, and agentic or tool-using AI architectures.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems principles.
• Adaptable approach and ease working within a cooperative, rapid-paced setting.

Nice to have

• Background in taxonomy or ontology management platforms, GraphRAG, or BPMN and workflow modeling.
