Mettler Toledo seeks a Senior Specialist Export Compliance for its Nänikon, CH headquarters. The role strengthens global export control capabilities, manages compliance processes, and supports international trade operations in a hybrid work environment.
As international trade regulations grow more complex, METTLER TOLEDO is expanding its Export Compliance team at the Nänikon-Greifensee headquarters to maintain operational excellence. This position is central to strengthening the company's export capabilities, improving compliance workflows, supporting global initiatives, and ensuring all export-related activities meet regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform Know Your Customer checks and manage the related database to ensure adherence to global export and trade rules across all departments.
- Handle denied party screenings, secure necessary clearances, and carry out required follow-up steps.
- Evaluate products against dual-use regulations, manage the approved product list, and support export classification efforts alongside subject matter experts.
- Oversee the execution of export control authorizations and procedures, ensuring proper documentation and complete audit trails.
- Support regional export compliance activities and coordinate with global teams in Switzerland, the Americas, and China to maintain expertise and provide backup support.
- Advise internal Sales, Service, and Production teams by reviewing cases and managing internal authorizations according to legal standards.
- Develop and run training programs using Learning Management Systems or in-person sessions.
- Create and conduct internal monitoring using standardized reports to spot risks and apply corrective measures.
- Work with stakeholders and supervisors to review, update, and enhance compliance processes and government program elements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Process/Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in export compliance, with at least half of previous duties focused on this area rather than customs alone.
- Three to seven or more years in trade compliance, preferably within multinational industrial, pharmaceutical, or complex regulatory settings.
- Deep understanding of import/export laws, Export Controls, HS/ECCN classification, product origin rules, and sanction regimes such as SECO, BIS, US EAR, and EU Dual-Use.
- Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- A structured and precise approach to work, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- High intercultural competence and the ability to communicate respectfully across different cultures.
- Collaborative team player with stakeholder management skills, flexibility, and willingness to travel internationally as needed.
