Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager

Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager in Zürich to lead trade compliance strategy, manage European teams, and ensure adherence to international regulations.

This position acts as the Deputy to the Head of Logistics & Trade Compliance and Central Warehouses, focusing specifically on trade compliance matters. The incumbent also holds Product Ownership responsibilities for Global Trade Services, ensuring these functions align with broader company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily trade compliance operations to guarantee strict adherence to all applicable trade laws, including Swiss export controls (GKV, GKG), US regulations like EAR, customs rules, sanctions, embargos, and CBAM.
  • Develop and propose strategic initiatives that align with the company’s overall goals while adapting to shifting economic and geopolitical landscapes.
  • Keep top management promptly informed regarding updates to global trade compliance regulations and legal requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with international trade activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with authorities, customers, and suppliers for assessments, reviews, and internal approvals related to trade compliance.
  • Lead the European Trade Compliance team, which consists of Trade Compliance Specialists.
  • Act as project lead or active participant in cross-functional and trade compliance projects.
  • Provide support to the Trade Compliance Specialist team for day-to-day operational topics when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business economics, international trade law, or a similar field with a background in logistics and supply chain management.
  • At least five years of proven experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, or related roles.
  • Deep understanding of international trade and customs regulations, including EAR, customs procedures, sanctions, and embargos.
  • Business-level proficiency in both English and German.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management, specifically regarding Country of Origin (COO), HS Codes, and Preferential Calculation.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist or Certified Export Specialist.
