TradeXBank AG seeks a Senior Head of Compliance in Zürich to lead the compliance department, manage AML/KYC/sanctions frameworks, and ensure regulatory adherence across the bank.

The Head of Compliance directs the bank's compliance function, establishing and maintaining a robust framework for anti-money laundering, know-your-customer protocols, sanctions, and broader regulatory obligations. This role serves as the primary liaison for compliance issues both inside the organization and with external bodies, while fostering a strong culture of regulatory adherence throughout the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and mentors the Senior Compliance team members.
  • Implements and enforces anti-money laundering rules and industry standards.
  • Manages the full lifecycle of client onboarding, including due diligence, politically exposed persons checks, fund origin verification, and account closures.
  • Assigns risk ratings to clients and oversees the internal risk classification system for clients and countries.
  • Processes alerts related to AML, sanctions, embargoes, and market conduct, while monitoring client transactions.
  • Configures and maintains the AML monitoring software.
  • Keeps abreast of sanctions changes, oversees screening for sanctions and PEPs, and ensures necessary measures are taken.
  • Executes the yearly Compliance Risk Assessment and follows up on resulting actions.
  • Updates the Compliance Risk Appetite Statement and reports key risk indicators and thresholds to the Executive Board and Board of Directors.
  • Creates and revises compliance policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates potential conflicts of interest and outside business activities.
  • Advises the Executive Board on suspicious activity reporting filings.
  • Corresponds with internal/external auditors, correspondent banks, and regulatory bodies such as FINMA, MROS, and public prosecutors.
  • Monitors legal and regulatory changes impacting compliance.
  • Develops and sustains a regulatory framework addressing compliance risks.
  • Encourages compliance awareness and upholds regulatory standards per internal guidelines.
  • Reports compliance status to the Executive Board and Board of Directors, supports senior management in their duties, and advises bank departments on regulatory needs.
  • Organizes and delivers KYC/AML training for staff, including material development and in-person sessions.
  • Participates in cross-functional working groups, contributes to regulatory projects, supports new business initiatives, defines IT compliance specifications, and manages compliance technology selection and upkeep.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of AML, KYC, and sanctions regulations, including AMLA/AMLO/AMLO-FINMA, CDB 20, EmbA/Ukraine Ordinance, FINMA Circulars, Guidance, and FATCA.
  • Proven experience managing compliance programs, including risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Skill in tracking regulatory changes and maintaining regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience interacting with the Executive Board, Board of Directors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to build relationships with external partners, including auditors and regulators.
  • Understanding of risk management principles, including assessment, monitoring, and mitigation.
  • Familiarity with compliance IT systems, such as sanctions screening and AML monitoring tools.
  • Experience selecting and maintaining compliance technology platforms.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments.
  • Results-oriented with a metrics-driven approach.
  • Collaborative mindset working across business lines, risk, and audit functions.
  • Master's degree in Law, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of compliance experience, preferably in commodity trade finance or similar banking sector.
  • Proven track record leading compliance teams and developing compliance frameworks.
