Software Developer (C++ / Real-Time / High-Performance)

Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland Ltd seeks a Mid-level Software Developer for on-site work in CH, focusing on C++ and high-performance real-time systems.

This position centers on the design and implementation of robust, efficient software solutions within complex system-level environments. The developer will collaborate with system engineers and stakeholders to refine requirements, while also contributing to technical decisions and improving overall development practices. The role emphasizes integration, testing, and verification, ensuring that software meets rigorous standards in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams across Saab, including system design, quality assurance, integration, verification, and product management.
• Participate in agile workflows featuring iterative development, planning cycles, and continuous feedback loops.
• Take ownership of significant technical areas or features, depending on individual experience levels.
• Provide support and mentorship to fellow developers as experience allows.
• Lead or drive technical initiatives and process improvements within the team.
• Break down and refine technical requirements in collaboration with system engineers and stakeholders.
• Integrate, test, and verify software components within complex system-level environments.
• Contribute to technical decision-making and influence product direction.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrate solid programming proficiency in C++ or a comparable language, or show strong motivation to develop in C++ within a system-oriented context.
• Have experience working in a Linux-based development environment.
• Understand modern software development practices, including version control and CI/CD.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Pass a security vetting based on current regulations around security protection.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-performance or compute-intensive systems.
• Experience in real-time systems.
• Experience in signal processing, radar systems, or sensor-related technologies.
• System-level understanding of complex products, including interaction between software, hardware, and algorithms.
• Experience with communication protocols.
