Software Engineer US

The company seeks a professional to independently manage software engineering projects in the life science domain. This position requires regular collaboration with engineering teams located in both Switzerland and Slovenia to ensure seamless project execution.

Responsibilities

• Translate order specifications and functional descriptions into concrete concepts and customer-specific solutions.
• Develop PLC and HMI applications in compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Oversee project management for all automation-related components.
• Draft software documentation and customer-facing materials, including design specs and user instructions.
• Handle system commissioning at the factory or client sites, including supervising test runs.
• Manage interfaces between automation systems and customer DCS or visualization platforms.
• Contribute to product enhancements, particularly regarding control technology.
• Provide software support for retrofits on existing machinery.
• Assist customer service through remote phone support and on-site visits globally.
• Collaborate with the sales team on technical consultations and automation-related inquiries.
• Deliver training sessions for both internal staff and external clients.

Requirements

• Formal education in electrical engineering, such as a degree or technician certification in electrical engineering or automation.
• Strong expertise in PLC programming, with preferred experience in RSLogix and FactoryTalk, plus familiarity with VISIWIN, Siemens WinCC/WinCC flex, and S7 (TIA-Portal).
• Proficiency in high-level programming languages and structured text formats like FBD, IL, SCL, and Ladder.
• Several years of hands-on experience in plant, machine, or apparatus engineering.
• A structured, responsible work style combined with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexibility to travel for project assignments.
