Hamilton Services AG seeks a mid-level Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based software solutions supporting critical business processes.
This position focuses on building and sustaining robust software systems that enable essential business operations and enhance product features. The engineer will work on creating scalable solutions while collaborating with various teams to ensure technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Create, test, and upkeep software applications using Python as the main programming language.
- Follow established engineering standards to ensure code is modular, clean, and easy to maintain.
- Take part in technical discussions and help make decisions about system architecture.
- Build and enhance automated testing processes for unit, integration, and system levels.
- Manage the lifecycle of current software components to ensure ongoing reliability.
- Work alongside hardware, system engineering, and product teams to align on goals.
- Review code from peers and help raise the overall quality of development practices.
- Maintain documentation, manage version control, and support continuous integration and deployment workflows.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
- Between three and five years of hands-on experience in software development.
- High skill level in modern programming languages, especially Python.
- Strong grasp of software engineering basics, including object-oriented and functional programming, architecture, design patterns, testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Experience using scripting languages for automation.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Comfort working in Linux-based development environments.
Nice to have
- Background in frontend development with Angular or React.
- Understanding of UI/UX integration principles.
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to embedded, hardware-related, or system-level software projects.
