Software Engineer

Swiss TPH seeks a mid-level Software Engineer to build health information systems and geospatial tools within its Biostatistics Unit.

This position sits inside the Biostatistics Unit of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse group of experts dedicated to applying advanced statistical modelling and Bayesian computation to challenges in infectious disease and environmental epidemiology.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement health information systems along with their web-based user interfaces.
• Integrate geospatial health data entry and querying functions with interactive mapping features using Google Earth.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science or Informatics, or a Bachelor’s degree combined with relevant professional experience.
• At least two years of hands-on experience with Java development.
• Proficiency in AngularJS, JavaScript, and MySQL database management.
• Proven track record in building web-database applications and utilizing cloud services.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively in English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Python and R programming languages.
