Speechify seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain data infrastructure for AI model training. This fully remote role focuses on scaling data ingestion pipelines and collaborating with the AI team in Basel, Switzerland.
This position sits within the Data division of Speechify’s AI team. The primary objective is to manage the entire lifecycle of data collection required for training machine learning models. The engineer will ensure that high-quality audio data is efficiently gathered, processed, and made available for model development, supporting the company’s goal of removing reading barriers through technology.
Responsibilities
- Identify and integrate new audio data sources into the existing ingestion pipeline.
- Maintain and expand the cloud-based infrastructure for data ingestion, utilizing GCP and Terraform.
- Work closely with data scientists to optimize the balance between cost, throughput, and data quality, aiming for larger scale and lower expenses.
- Partner with the AI team and leadership to define and execute the roadmap for dataset development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in software development.
- Strong scripting skills in bash and Python within Linux environments.
- Proficiency with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code principles, including hands-on experience with GCP.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting project needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
