Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering

Google seeks a Mid-level Software Engineer for Site Reliability Engineering in Zürich. The role focuses on building fault-tolerant systems and ensuring Google Cloud service reliability through code development and system analysis.

This position merges software and systems engineering to design and operate large-scale, massively distributed, and fault-tolerant infrastructure. The engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability and uptime of Google Cloud services, ensuring they meet customer expectations while driving rapid improvement. The role involves continuously monitoring system capacity and performance to prevent issues before they impact users.

Responsibilities

• Develop code for products and underlying systems.
• Evaluate code written by colleagues, offering constructive feedback to uphold engineering standards.
• Update and create documentation or educational materials, adjusting them based on product changes and user input.
• Investigate and resolve system issues by analyzing root causes and assessing their impact on hardware, network, or service quality.
• Join or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select appropriate technologies.
