Google seeks a Staff Software Engineer in Zürich to design scalable AI systems for automotive applications within the Applied AI team.

This position sits within Google Cloud's Applied AI team, specifically in the Automotive AI Agent group. The role centers on leveraging advanced AI technologies to reshape the automotive sector by creating intelligent solutions that improve vehicle capabilities and user interaction.

Responsibilities

• Architect and construct efficient, scalable software frameworks tailored for automotive AI use cases.
• Partner with data scientists, product managers, and fellow engineers to shape and carry out technical roadmaps.
• Advance AI agent capabilities, with a focus on natural language processing, computer vision, and autonomous driving.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and support the overall technical development of the group.
• Maintain code quality through thorough testing, peer reviews, and strict adherence to engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Proven background in building large-scale distributed systems and managing cloud infrastructure.
• High competence in at least one major programming language, such as Python, C++, Java, or Go.
• Solid experience applying machine learning or artificial intelligence in practical scenarios.
