Supply Chain & Procurement Manager

Adaptyv seeks a Supply Chain & Procurement Manager in Lausanne to build its first dedicated supply chain function for an AI-driven biotech lab.

As the inaugural supply chain hire at a rapidly expanding biotech firm, this position is responsible for constructing a flexible procurement infrastructure that scales alongside scientific growth. The role demands a hands-on approach, requiring the incumbent to personally manage sourcing, vendor negotiations, and process automation to support an automated laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete procurement lifecycle, from initial requests and purchase orders to receiving goods and onboarding new vendors.
• Mitigate supply risks by identifying and qualifying alternative suppliers for essential materials.
• Negotiate pricing, volume commitments, and supplier terms to enhance profit margins.
• Reduce protein production expenses by systematically lowering costs across various categories.
• Identify and source reagents for upcoming assays before they are introduced by the R&D team.
• Establish inventory management policies, including safety stock levels and reorder points, to avoid shortages and waste from expiration.
• Forecast supply needs for laboratory expansion, accounting for volume requirements, lead times, and storage capacity.
• Oversee landed costs, including shipping, customs duties, VAT, and cold chain logistics.
• Partner with the Finance department to manage the procurement portion of gross margin and cost of goods sold.
• Implement automation for ordering, tracking, and reconciliation workflows.

Requirements

• Prior experience in supply chain or procurement within technical industries such as biotech, CROs, life sciences, or hardware manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of reagent categories and various sourcing methodologies.
• Ability to analyze and optimize margins and cost savings at scale.
• Technical proficiency to communicate effectively with scientists and biochemists.
• Strong negotiation capabilities, including the willingness to walk away from unfavorable deals.
• Skill in automating procurement tasks using scripts and APIs instead of relying on manual portal entries.
• Meticulous attention to detail regarding lead times, expiry dates, lot numbers, and minimum order quantities.

Nice to have

• Experience with Swiss or EU import and export regulations.
