Team Lead - Data Engineering

LGT Capital Partners AG seeks a Team Lead for Data Engineering in Pfäffikon. This hybrid role blends technical leadership with people management to drive data platform adoption and AI integration across the firm.

Positioned within the Solution Architecture and Engineering IT organization, this position merges deep technical ownership with people leadership. The role carries firm-wide impact, ensuring the data platform is adopted across the organization while balancing hands-on technical involvement with team scaling.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, mentor, and expand a high-performing data engineering team.
• Maintain a balance between direct technical contributions and managerial duties as the team grows.
• Oversee the delivery of data engineering projects within a complex, large-scale IT landscape.
• Coordinate with various internal teams and stakeholders to guarantee reliable project outcomes.
• Collaborate with architecture and other engineering groups to define the technical roadmap for the data platform.
• Promote the use of AI in data engineering, from assisted coding to embedding AI-driven features.
• Ensure the data platform remains reliable, cost-efficient, and high-performing.
• Implement standards for data quality, observability, and governance within the platform.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success in delivering complex, large-scale products in challenging environments.
• Proven track record in leading engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience managing production platforms at scale, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise in hybrid architectures, covering both transactional systems and analytical platforms.
• Solid foundation in core software engineering practices and modern data engineering techniques.
• Ability to switch between high-level strategy and hands-on technical execution.
• Understanding of how AI is transforming engineering workflows.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, working effectively with architecture, product, and business units.
• Clear and confident communication, able to explain technical trade-offs.
• Excellent oral and written English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Azure, Snowflake, dbt, and Python.
• Background in financial services or asset management.
• German language proficiency.
