Technical Solution Architect

Benchling seeks a Senior Technical Solution Architect in Zürich to partner with customers and internal teams, designing cloud-based integrations and driving scientific progress through technical innovation. The role requires experience in enterprise SaaS implementations, REST APIs, Python, and cloud development, with a hybrid work model and full-time employment.

This role serves as the primary technical liaison between Benchling and its customers, as well as internal engineering teams, to design and deliver solutions that advance scientific research. The architect works closely with customer IT and development leaders to ensure seamless integration of Benchling into complex enterprise IT environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical consulting with IT professionals to assess their infrastructure and recommend Benchling solutions aligned with their informatics goals.
• Design, prototype, and manage cloud-based integrations and automations using Benchling’s developer platform.
• Work with product and engineering teams to share customer feedback and align solutions with Benchling’s roadmap and available features.
• Support project managers in large enterprise rollouts by identifying technical risks and product gaps, and developing workarounds.
• Create and present demos or proof-of-concept solutions early in implementation projects to secure stakeholder agreement.
• Use project experience to contribute to Benchling’s technical documentation and influence the developer platform’s future development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or computer science.
• Five or more years of client-facing software implementation or consulting, with proven success in enterprise SaaS projects.
• Proficiency in using REST APIs and Python to build integration demos and share code with customer developers.
• Proven ability to lead technically and model complex ideas into actionable technical solutions.
• Familiarity with modern cloud software development tools, processes, and architectures.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences and work across internal teams.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 10–20% of the time, depending on project needs.
