Avaloq1 seeks a Technical Solutions Consultant (pre-sales) in Zürich, CH, for mid-to-senior level permanent hybrid role. The position involves designing end-to-end banking solutions, supporting sales, and managing RFP/RFI responses for clients in private banking, wealth management, and universal banking across Europe and North America.
This role is responsible for end-to-end solution design and commercial support for complex banking opportunities, acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal stakeholders. The consultant ensures solution integrity across functional, technical, commercial, and delivery aspects, supporting Avaloq’s sales efforts in key markets.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a customer-facing expert for Avaloq sales opportunities in Europe and North America.
- Lead or participate in client workshops, solution presentations, and due-diligence sessions, both remotely and on-site.
- Translate client business, regulatory, and IT needs into feasible Avaloq-based solution designs.
- Advise senior client stakeholders such as CIOs, COOs, and Enterprise Architects.
- Manage and deliver high-quality RFP, RFI, and technical questionnaire responses with regulatory defensibility.
- Own solution positioning, differentiators, and assumptions, clearly distinguishing standard, configurable, and custom features.
- Prepare deal gate materials including scope, complexity, risks, assumptions, and cost drivers in coordination with Sales and Delivery.
- Ensure all proposals comply with Avaloq’s commercial, legal, risk, and governance standards.
- Design comprehensive solutions covering Avaloq Core Platform (ACP), Digital Channels (Web / RM Workplace), Community API, integration patterns, data, analytics, reporting, regulatory tools, and hosting models (SaaS, BPaaS, managed services, on-premises).
- Define non-functional requirements including security, IAM, data protection, regulatory compliance, high availability, disaster recovery, performance, scalability, and operational support processes.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Product Management, Hosting, and Security teams to ensure technical feasibility and solution integrity.
- Act as the primary internal solution contact, coordinating input from Product, Architecture, Security, Legal, and Delivery teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in private banking, wealth management, or financial services IT.
- Strong grasp of banking operations and regulatory environments (e.g. FINMA, ECB, MAS, FCA) and IT controls.
- Hands-on experience with core banking platforms, including Avaloq or similar tier-1 systems.
- Practical experience with API-based integration, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with digital banking channels and client-facing platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud and hosting models (OCI, AWS, Azure, hybrid).
- In-depth understanding of Kubernetes, including container orchestration, networking, security, high availability, resilience, scaling, and operational aspects like monitoring, logging, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Experience designing solutions on managed Kubernetes services (e.g. OpenShift, EKS, AKS) and hybrid or on-premises Kubernetes environments.
- Ability to clearly communicate Kubernetes benefits, risks, and operational impacts to clients and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in security architecture, IAM, data protection, and compliance controls.
- Background in infrastructure sizing, performance, and high-availability design.
- Experience with modern enterprise technologies including Kubernetes, containerisation, observability, and CI/CD.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for C-suite, regulators, and client decision-makers.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills to simplify complex technical topics.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- High degree of autonomy, accountability, and professionalism.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-pressure deal environments.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Typical 7–10+ years in solution consulting, pre-sales, or architecture roles.
- Fluent English is required.

- Additional European languages such as German, French, Italian, or Spanish are strongly preferred.
- Experience in international, matrix-organised environments is highly valued.
- Prior work with regulated European financial institutions is an advantage.
