Software Engineer / IT Business analyst

Avaloq, a global leader in wealth management technology, seeks a Senior Software Engineer / IT Business Analyst in Zürich. The role involves developing and maintaining features for the Avaloq Banking Suite using Oracle PL/SQL, within a hybrid, agile environment. Candidates need a computer science degree, 4+ years of experience, and strong communication skills in English.

As part of Avaloq’s development team, you will contribute to one of the world’s largest PL/SQL applications—the Avaloq Banking Suite. You’ll design, implement, and maintain software solutions, working in a hybrid environment that emphasizes training and continuous learning. The role requires collaboration with clients and internal teams, supporting innovation in financial technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new features based on internal and external requirements
• Gain a deep understanding of the Avaloq Core Banking Platform and its associated business areas
• Lead projects from requirement analysis through to implementation and testing, including direct client interactions
• Perform maintenance tasks such as root cause analysis, bug fixes, and code optimization
• Provide technical support to customers and business analysts, and collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and other engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field
• Minimum of four years of experience in a software development role
• Proven knowledge and experience with RDBMS, Oracle SQL, and Oracle PL/SQL
• Solid understanding of Scrum and agile development methodologies
• Strong analytical abilities and a systematic approach to solving problems
• Commitment to quality, self-motivation, and goal-oriented work ethic
• Open-minded, collaborative team player with excellent communication skills in English (both spoken and written) to support client interactions

Nice to have

• Experience with one or more high-level programming languages
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services
• Understanding of Oracle Database architecture
