Testing Engineer Intern

Voliro seeks a Testing Engineer Intern in Zürich to validate the Voliro T platform. The role focuses on manual testing, bug investigation, and ensuring quality across embedded and system levels.

This internship supports Voliro’s mission to scale its business and deliver an exceptional customer experience. The successful candidate will help advance the Voliro T platform, ensuring it meets high standards for performance and reliability through rigorous testing and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage testing activities for the entire platform stack, ranging from low-level embedded code to high-level system interactions.
  • Create and maintain manual test suites, including detailed test procedures to verify feature functionality, stability, and performance.
  • Execute tests across various release stages, including pull request checks, release candidates, and post-deployment validation.
  • Diagnose issues that span software and hardware boundaries, performing initial troubleshooting and documenting results for further analysis.

Requirements

  • A strong interest in technology or a relevant technical educational background.
  • Ability to think systemically with a focus on end-to-end quality in complex embedded environments.
  • Prior experience in designing and executing manual test plans for robotics or embedded systems.
  • Proactive and organized approach, with willingness to engage with hardware setups and complex troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Swiss driver's license.

Nice to have

  • Basic proficiency in Python or C++ for creating test scripts that assist development teams.
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded devices, including knowledge of networking, logging, and daemons.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI, and automated testing pipelines.
  • Understanding of RTOS-based systems and their unique debugging challenges.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or simulation-based testing environments.
  • Background in release engineering or managing QA processes for hardware/software products.
