responsAbility board seeks a Transaction Officer in Cape Town to manage investment documentation, FX trades, and cash flows within its Climate and Sustainable Foods team.

This position sits within the TM Climate, Sustainable Foods and Equity Products team, providing a distinct opportunity to engage with impact investments. The role focuses on the end-to-end execution of transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient processing across various asset classes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with borrowers, investment, portfolio management, compliance, legal, reporting teams, custodians, and fund administrators to ensure timely and compliant transaction execution.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of investment documentation, including drafting, reviewing, coordinating execution, tracking, delivering, and securely storing original documents.
  • Serve as the main contact for borrowers, custodians, and investment team members regarding transactional issues.
  • Execute foreign exchange trades and handle post-trade processing for all asset classes, including derivatives.
  • Review and validate KYC and transaction documents against internal policies and AML guidelines, resolving any discrepancies or non-compliance issues.
  • Track and process cash flow activities with custodians, including capital calls, distributions, disbursements, principal repayments, and invoices.
  • Monitor and resolve monthly reconciliations between internal records, counterparties, custodians, and fund administrators, investigating and fixing cash and securities breaks.
  • Establish, document, update, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and transaction-related processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.
  • Ensure proper custody and safekeeping of original loan documentation with appointed custodians.
  • Manage ongoing investment administration tasks, such as cash flow notifications, tracking open conditions, marking commodity-indexed contracts to market, and setting up and monitoring collateral under agreements and fixed-asset financing structures.
  • Collaborate with service providers to ensure adherence to agreed policies, procedures, and internal control standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Back or Middle Office roles or within a Finance environment.
  • Strong interest in legal and operational matters relevant to investment funds.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency with AI tools, MS Office, and Excel.
  • Efficient, accurate, and independent work style, with the ability to collaborate closely with team members across different geographies.
  • Analytical skills, ability to meet tight deadlines, and strong organizational and planning abilities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with investment management software platforms for record keeping, fund administration, and reporting, supporting the automation of manual processes.
  • Additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for impact investments.
