Xapo seeks a UK Legal Counsel to manage regulatory obligations and support product compliance. This remote role requires a UK-qualified lawyer with financial services experience.
Xapo is looking for a UK Legal Counsel to ensure the company fulfills its regulatory duties in the United Kingdom. The position focuses on supporting business growth through regulatory applications and advising on the compliance of new product launches. The lawyer will also assist the legal department by researching complex legal matters and reviewing essential documentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare UK regulatory submissions, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and aligned with business goals.
- Advise on the legal structuring and ongoing compliance of new product launches, working closely with Product, Marketing, and Compliance teams.
- Track and interpret changes in the UK legal and regulatory environment, especially within banking, fintech, and blockchain.
- Implement and uphold standards for key UK regulations, such as consumer duty principles and financial promotions rules.
- Analyze complex legal and regulatory information and provide clear, actionable recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Offer legal guidance on commercial and regulatory issues, including reviewing client-facing communications for compliance.
Requirements
- At least three years of post-qualification experience, preferably from a mix of private practice and in-house roles in financial services (banking, payments, or cryptoassets).
- UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with significant practice and experience with the UK legal and regulatory environment.
- A dedicated workspace.

- Devices and other essential equipment that meet minimal technical specifications.
Nice to have
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience working on regulatory applications for fintechs within the banking, payments or cryptoasset industries.
