The Blockchain Climate Institute seeks a Senior Programme Officer to manage its Fellowship Programme remotely. This unpaid volunteer role supports the Director-General's Office and the Director of Programmes in overseeing fellowship operations, outreach, and community engagement.

This position sits within the Director-General's Office and collaborates closely with the Director of Programmes to oversee the BCI Fellowship Programme. The role focuses on managing the full lifecycle of the fellowship, from recruiting diverse candidates to delivering mentorship and tracking milestones, while supporting council operations and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Draft research summaries for Council Fellows
  • Spearhead global recruitment and selection of fellows from various disciplines and regions
  • Coordinate the complete fellowship journey, including onboarding, mentorship, program execution, and milestone monitoring
  • Plan and host virtual gatherings like quarterly meetings, workshops, and training sessions
  • Create reports, blog posts, case studies, and success stories to highlight program impact
  • Handle budgets, logistics, contracts, and program management tools such as Notion and Airtable
  • Support the management of Council projects related to blockchain and climate policy
  • Implement community engagement strategies, including organizing inclusive events and fostering member participation
  • Coordinate with the Director of Programmes and Fellows to schedule meetings
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Ensure follow-up on agreed actions
  • Maintain an updated database of Council Fellows with contact details
  • Archive minutes and reports

Requirements

  • Strong oral communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and interact professionally with stakeholders
  • Excellent written English
  • Proficiency with digital tools for remote collaboration and program delivery
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities
  • Respectful and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze complex discussions and write concise minutes
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines for council documentation
  • Adherence to policies and procedures
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic familiarity with Airtable and/or Trello
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in climate, sustainability, blockchain, international development, or related fields
  • 4–6 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in global fellowships, leadership development, or innovation ecosystems

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology
  • Strong understanding of climate and energy challenges; experience in technology, financial services, or energy sectors is desirable
  • Experience building and nurturing online or hybrid communities across regions and time zones
  • Familiarity with community platforms like Discord, Slack, or Telegram for managing content and engagement
  • Proven ability to manage remote programs and engage global, multicultural cohorts
  • Experience working independently and in teams to meet deadlines
  • Background with UN agencies, USAID, or other development agencies is welcome
