EPFL seeks a Venture Program Leader to guide deep tech and science startups through the Startup Launchpad, connecting researchers with venture creation opportunities in Lausanne.
This position sits within the EPFL Startup Launchpad, a program dedicated to helping researchers and students turn breakthrough scientific ideas into scalable businesses. The role operates at the intersection of world-class science and entrepreneurship, playing a key part in shaping the pipeline of startups that enter the program.
Responsibilities
- Promote the Startup Launchpad across EPFL schools, labs, research centers, and student groups to increase visibility.
- Proactively find promising founders and startup ideas by engaging with labs, PhD cohorts, hackathons, courses, and the broader innovation network.
- Serve as the primary contact for researchers and students interested in launching a startup.
- Evaluate projects and suggest the most suitable incubation path for each team.
- Refine sourcing strategies and qualification criteria based on pipeline data and feedback from founders.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in startups, venture building, accelerators, technology transfer, or innovation programs.
- Deep understanding of how academic research moves to market, with the ability to judge early-stage venture potential.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort navigating academic environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities, with an engaging personality.
- Fluency in both English and French.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with the Swiss startup and innovation ecosystem.
- An existing EPFL network or academic background is advantageous but not mandatory.
