Veterinary Pathologist, Early Drug Discovery

Roche seeks a Veterinary Pathologist for its Early Drug Discovery team in Basel. The role involves preclinical pathological evaluation, scientific consultation, and strategic partnership within the 360 Labs Initiative.

This position is embedded within Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) organization, specifically in the Tissue & Spatial Technologies Platform under the 360 Labs Chapter. The role supports the broader mission of converting scientific discovery into medicines by providing specialized pathological expertise and fostering collaboration across internal pathology groups.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pathological assessments for preclinical studies during target identification and early discovery stages.
• Provide expert advice on anatomical, physiological, and pathological matters to research scientists.
• Collaborate with the Platform Head to ensure operational efficiency, including assessing capacity and identifying gaps.
• Serve as the main liaison between the Tissue & Spatial Technologies Platform and other internal pathology teams within pRED.
• Stay current with advancements in histology and digital pathology, sharing insights with stakeholders and presenting at conferences.

Requirements

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in academia, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical capabilities regarding preclinical animal models.
• Excellent command of English for effective communication.

Nice to have

• Board certification from a recognized body, such as ECVP or ACVP.
