VIE Technician / Paint Process Methods Engineer (f/m/d)

Alstom seeks a mid-level Paint Process Methods Engineer in Villeneuve, CH, to optimize paint operations, analyze defects, and drive continuous improvement within a collaborative team.

This full-time position focuses on maintaining high standards for paint quality and operational efficiency. The engineer works closely with Quality, Production, Purchasing, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth process execution and effective problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering daily operational support for paint-related activities.
  • Creating, validating, and documenting procedures for surface prep, masking, coating application, and curing.
  • Investigating paint defects such as adhesion issues, thickness variations, and appearance flaws to determine initial root causes.
  • Tracking the success of corrective measures and ensuring structured feedback loops.
  • Assisting in the planning and running of process trials and testing.
  • Revising work instructions and updating method standards to reflect current practices.
  • Integrating workshop best practices into official methods documentation.
  • Helping define and roll out continuous improvement initiatives for paint processes.
  • Utilizing performance monitoring tools like dashboards, checklists, and key indicators.
  • Supporting digitalization efforts for process tracking.
  • Coordinating with various cross-functional teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Practical knowledge or experience with paint application, surface preparation, and curing techniques.
  • Proficiency in defect analysis and root cause identification methods.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks and tools.
  • Strong ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Proven capability to work effectively within cross-functional groups.
  • Fluency in French is required.

Nice to have

  • Certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
