AMAC Aerospace seeks a Mid-level VIP Seat Prototypist in Basel to transform aircraft seat designs into functional prototypes through upholstery, 3D modeling, and rigorous testing.
This position focuses on the creation of initial prototype versions for aircraft seating and related components. The specialist translates conceptual designs into tangible, functional models that undergo testing and refinement, ensuring they meet specific aesthetic and performance criteria before production.
Responsibilities
- Partner with design, engineering, and client teams to grasp requirements for comfort, look, and function.
- Select and test various materials, including foams, fabrics, and leather, to build prototypes that align with design specs.
- Generate digital templates using 3D modeling applications.
- Perform evaluations on prototypes, covering fit checks and comfort assessments.
- Work closely with production and engineering staff to ensure designs can be accurately manufactured.
- Spot and resolve any design or manufacturing hurdles that arise during the prototyping stage.
- Guarantee that all seats adhere to luxury aviation standards regarding durability, aesthetics, and comfort.
Requirements
- Completion of an upholstery apprenticeship or an equivalent diploma/certificate.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in a comparable role.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, instructions, and processes.
- Consistent delivery of high-quality craftsmanship across all tasks.
- Strong verbal and written English capabilities.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Team-oriented mindset with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs.

- Prior experience within the aviation sector.
- Ability to communicate in French.
