Volleyball World, a joint venture between the FIVB and CVC Capital Partners, seeks a Head of Hosting to lead its global event hosting strategy. Based in Lausanne, the role involves securing host cities, managing procurement, and building long-term partnerships for international volleyball events.
The Head of Hosting reports to the Chief Business & Growth Officer and oversees Volleyball World’s global hosting strategy for its international event portfolio, including Indoor and Beach Volleyball. The position is central to expanding the organization’s global footprint and supporting its international growth by identifying and securing host destinations, managing procurement, and fostering long-term relationships with governments, tourism boards, and local organizing committees.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute the global hosting strategy for Volleyball World’s international events.
- Discover and evaluate potential host cities in various international markets.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective host destinations.
- Support revenue goals and growth of the event portfolio through hosting initiatives.
- Lead the entire host city procurement process, from initial outreach to contract signing.
- Manage tender processes, bid assessments, and commercial negotiations.
- Design hosting agreements in coordination with internal teams.
- Ensure all contractual and commercial terms are clearly defined and aligned.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with host cities, tourism organizations, governments, and event partners.
- Represent Volleyball World in commercial talks, presentations, and site visits.
- Support retention of existing hosts and renew agreements across the event portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with Sponsorship, Media, Product, and Event Operations teams.
- Ensure hosting agreements align with broader commercial and operational goals.
- Facilitate coordination between host organizations and Volleyball World’s internal departments.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sports business, event hosting, commercial partnerships, or international event delivery.
- Demonstrated expertise in host procurement, commercial negotiations, and managing complex stakeholder environments.
- Solid understanding of the commercial and operational dynamics of international sporting events.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with international federations, rights holders, governments, or host destinations.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
