Coni & Partner AG seeks a Mid-level Analyst for US Tax Compliance within Fund Operations in Zürich. The role focuses on private equity tax adherence, legislative analysis, and stakeholder advisory.

This position places a tax specialist within the asset management division of an international Swiss bank. The primary purpose is to manage US tax compliance for private equity funds, ensuring that operational and tax risks are properly addressed while supporting portfolio management and investor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage US tax compliance for private equity funds, balancing risk, operational, and tax considerations.
  • Track changes in US tax laws and assess their impact on investments for both portfolio managers and investors.
  • Review fund agreement distribution provisions and calculate investor allocation distributions.
  • Apply international tax rules regarding PFICs and CFCs, including preparation of Forms 926, 8865, 8621, and 5471.
  • Analyze debt and equity structures, as well as unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) for tax-exempt clients.
  • Evaluate client investments to determine US tax implications.
  • Advise clients on selecting appropriate US tax systems for their investments.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding tax matters.
  • Monitor updates and directives issued by the US Internal Revenue Service.
  • Partner with IT teams to integrate regulatory changes into existing tools and processes.
  • Deliver training sessions to explain US tax concepts relevant to investment practices.
  • Participate in global tax initiatives and projects.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Law, Accounting, or Taxation.
  • Qualified tax professional status or actively pursuing such qualification.
  • Professional background in asset management with a focus on US or international tax, preferably involving private equity.
  • Solid understanding of international tax returns and applicable US tax statutes.
  • Proven experience in calculating taxable income and resource allocations for private equity vehicles.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns, including Schedule K-1.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience working with private equity funds.
