Android Developer (Inbox)

Proton seeks a Mid-level Android Developer for its Inbox product in Geneva. This fullstack role requires expertise in Kotlin, Rust, and Jetpack Compose to build cross-platform mobile applications with end-to-end ownership.

The company is looking for a fullstack cross-platform Android Engineer to lead the development of Proton Inbox. In this position, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for mobile application projects, from initial scoping and prioritization through to final delivery, ensuring high-quality, user-centric software.

Responsibilities

• Build and sustain cross-platform Android apps using Kotlin and Rust.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of mobile development initiatives, including defining scope and setting priorities.
• Drive innovation by investigating emerging technologies and development methods.
• Enhance app performance, usability, and responsiveness.
• Apply advanced techniques for memory management, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Architect solutions that scale effectively, accounting for data caching, network limits, and server capacity.
• Focus on customer satisfaction by refining user experiences based on feedback and best practices.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated history of creating Android applications with Kotlin.
• Competence in using Jetpack Compose for Android UI development.
• Working knowledge of the Rust programming language.
• Solid grasp of mobile app architecture, design patterns, and industry standards.
• Deep understanding of memory management principles and optimization strategies.
• Practical experience handling multithreading and concurrency issues in mobile environments.
• Awareness of scalability challenges and engineering solutions for mobile apps.
• Prior experience thriving in a rapid-growth or scale-up setting.
