This position sits within the Power Device Physics team under the Energy Technologies department. The role focuses on advancing technology and system development to support the company's broader objectives. The work arrangement allows for a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform applied research centered on power device physics, particularly dielectric insulation, breakdown phenomena, and multi-physics challenges.
- Lead and participate in research initiatives aimed at creating sustainable solutions for the energy transition, renewable integration, and storage.
- Utilize both proprietary and commercial advanced simulation software.
- Steer research efforts, secure intellectual property, and author scientific papers.
- Collaborate with internal scientists and engineers, while fostering partnerships with universities and global divisions.
- Develop innovative approaches to dielectric insulation in gases and solids, addressing related multi-physical issues.
- Convert basic research findings on physical phenomena into functional prototypes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across the organization and externally.
- Help shape the team's research roadmap and oversee project management.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD in physics or electrical engineering.
- Demonstrate practical experience in scientific or industrial laboratory settings.
- Possess simulation expertise, such as with COMSOL.
- Exhibit strong written and spoken English communication and presentation abilities.
