Associate Director, Access and Value - Southern Cone

BioMarin seeks an Associate Director for Access and Value in the Southern Cone to lead strategic planning for product launch, pricing, and reimbursement across Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

This position is tasked with designing and implementing health outcomes programs that support the commercial success of BioMarin’s portfolio. The role focuses on driving growth by navigating complex reimbursement landscapes and establishing strong relationships with government authorities and patient advocacy groups in the Southern Cone region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to remove patient-level barriers to accessing treatments.
  • Track government policy changes and assess their impact on commercial operations.
  • Analyze market trends using research, advisory boards, and field insights.
  • Secure inclusion of products in national reimbursement programs across target countries.
  • Work with internal teams to evaluate policy impacts and create value-based documentation.
  • Align local strategies with global market access teams.
  • Provide pharmacoeconomic guidance to product development groups.
  • Build relationships with government officials and influencers to highlight the value of rare disease treatments.
  • Maintain strong ties with patient advocacy organizations and support their development.
  • Adapt corporate market access tools for local market needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or science.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in market access.
  • Solid background in reimbursement operations, including private and public insurance plans.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical product planning and new product launches.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex regulatory and organizational settings.
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities for navigating high-barrier access environments.

Nice to have

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Prior experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
  • Experience with orphan products.
  • Track record of managing cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare systems in all covered countries.
