Biologist in Clinical Molecular Genetics

The company seeks a mid-level Biologist in Clinical Molecular Genetics for its LabPoint facility in Avenches, Switzerland. The position focuses on NGS workflows, laboratory management, and diagnostic result interpretation within a dynamic team.

This position sits within the Genetics Department at LabPoint in Avenches, Switzerland. The role combines hands-on laboratory bench work with organizational and managerial duties. It provides significant potential for professional growth and ongoing training in clinical molecular genetics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare NGS libraries and manage the operation and upkeep of related instrumentation.
• Handle troubleshooting and quality control for library preparation and sequencing runs.
• Support the analytical and biological validation of test results.
• Help interpret findings and generate reports.
• Optimize, validate, and implement new diagnostic workflows, including WGS, WES, targeted panels, and liquid biopsy assays.
• Draft and roll out new standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Oversee and coordinate routine diagnostic tasks.
• Identify and resolve technical problems while ensuring adherence to protocols and regulations.
• Help develop the LIMS system and keep precise records.
• Collaborate with Quality Management, IT, Logistics, and Preanalytics departments.

Requirements

• Hold a PhD or Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrate solid experience with NGS technology and workflows in a genetics diagnostic setting.
• Show strong troubleshooting abilities for NGS processes.
• Prove capability to function effectively within a team.
• Display thorough knowledge of clinical molecular diagnostics.
• Maintain excellent proficiency in both English and French.

Nice to have

• Possess knowledge of German.
• Have broad experience and understanding of molecular genetic techniques.
