Lab Technician, Molecular Biology

Adaptyv, a fast-growing biotech company in Lausanne, is hiring a mid-level Lab Technician in Molecular Biology for an onsite, full-time role. The position supports an automated lab enabling AI agents to run biology experiments, requiring hands-on experience in molecular cloning, protein expression, and QC techniques.

Adaptyv is developing an automated lab infrastructure that enables AI agents to conduct biological experiments, bridging the gap between AI-driven hypothesis design and physical lab execution. The company is scaling rapidly to support AI-driven wet lab workflows and is hiring skilled technicians to maintain and optimize lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out molecular cloning procedures including PCR, Golden Gate and Gibson assembly, transformation, and colony screening.
• Perform protein expression in bacterial or mammalian systems, followed by purification and quality control steps.
• Conduct quality control tests on constructs and proteins using gel or capillary electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, SDS-PAGE, and related methods.
• Run biophysical and functional assays such as binding kinetics and thermostability to evaluate protein performance, and assist in developing and optimizing new assays for higher throughput.
• Prepare reagents, buffers, and reaction mixtures following established standard operating procedures.
• Operate and support automated liquid handling and lab automation systems where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of samples, inventory, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
• Document all experimental details and outcomes to ensure reproducibility, traceability, and data integrity.
• Help troubleshoot, refine, and scale molecular biology and protein production workflows.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life Science Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of practical lab experience in molecular biology, gained in academic or industrial settings.
• Strong skills in core techniques: PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, DNA purification, and gel or capillary electrophoresis.
• Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and precision in following protocols.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with protein expression and purification is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with protein characterization or binding assays such as BLI, SPR, ELISA, or thermostability testing is advantageous.
• Previous exposure to laboratory automation or liquid handling systems is a plus.
