Inautalent seeks a Chief Technology Officer to lead and scale a multidisciplinary R&D team in Martigny, Switzerland. The role focuses on transforming theoretical physics into working prototypes, with a hybrid work model and full-time employment.
This is not a conventional CTO position. The role requires bringing structure, speed, and execution to a high-ambition scientific environment, scaling a multidisciplinary team into a world-class R&D organization. The CTO will collaborate directly with leadership to align scientific vision with operational delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of engineers, physicists, and hybrid technical profiles
- Establish the structure, processes, and governance for a high-performing R&D organization
- Define and implement the technology and product development roadmap
- Oversee projects from initial research through to prototype development (TRL 0–5)
- Set up KPIs, tools, and operational frameworks to enhance execution efficiency
- Accelerate project delivery while preserving scientific accuracy and rigor
- Mentor and develop future technical leaders within the organization
- Promote a culture of ownership, excellence, and accountability
- Collaborate closely with founders and leadership to ensure alignment between vision and execution
Requirements
- Solid engineering background and engineering-focused mindset
- Experience in hardware and advanced technology development
- Proven ability to work in complex, cutting-edge scientific settings
- Expertise in applied technology and product development
- Senior technical leadership experience (CTO, Head of Engineering, Director, etc.)
- History of managing and scaling technical teams of 15+ people
- Experience in designing and evolving R&D organizational structures (processes, roles, governance)
- Ability to build and lead organizations in fast-growing, high-ambition environments
