HHJ BAU GmbH is seeking a Senior Cloud / DevOps Engineer for a hybrid role based in Zürich (with remote options). The position focuses on designing and operating modern deployment architectures, supporting international teams, and managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
This senior engineering role serves as the technical anchor for internal application and development groups while collaborating with global software and systems engineering teams across Europe, the USA, and Australia. The position is responsible for architecting, deploying, and maintaining a robust operations environment that supports both cloud-based and on-premises customer installations.
Responsibilities
- Architecting, deploying, and continuously improving a modern operations framework built on Linux/Ubuntu, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD workflows.
- Installing, configuring, and managing software solutions across cloud platforms and direct customer on-premises sites.
- Establishing and maintaining a remote support and monitoring infrastructure utilizing standard SaaS solutions.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and refining operational processes for ongoing system optimization.
- Serving as the primary technical liaison and advisor for internal development and application teams.
- Deploying remote access tools and providing technical support for operational technology (OT) setups at client locations.
- Designing and implementing network structures within various client infrastructure environments.
- Partnering with international engineering teams and stakeholders located in Europe, the USA, and Australia.
Requirements
- A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Deep practical experience provisioning and operating cloud services on AWS or Azure.
- Proven expertise in administering and maintaining Linux-based server systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with Windows Server, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and enterprise or industrial network setups.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, specifically PKI and certificate management.
- Experience managing credentials and secrets securely, including Docker Secrets or comparable methods.
- Fluent English communication abilities.
- Adaptability to a hybrid work model, involving roughly 5% travel and up to 60% remote work.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in German is considered a plus.
