Torqcommodities seeks a Mid-level Coffee Trader in Zug to manage green coffee sourcing for European markets, handle trading books, and cultivate partner relationships.

This position focuses on acquiring green coffee for clients in Europe, particularly within German-speaking regions, while overseeing spot inventory levels. The role also entails fostering connections with export partners, farmers, and specialty roasters throughout the continent.

Responsibilities

  • Procure coffee from global producers, cooperatives, and exporters.
  • Manage and optimize the profit and loss of the assigned trading book.
  • Identify new business opportunities to grow the company's footprint in Europe.
  • Establish and sustain partnerships with roasters and customers.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and origin teams to meet client needs.
  • Work with international offices to create innovative coffee products for European tastes.
  • Participate in coffee selection and curation to ensure high quality.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and trade exhibitions across Europe.
  • Sell coffee to roasters, importers, and institutional clients in key markets.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and quality specifications.
  • Manage trading positions, price exposure, and hedging strategies using futures and options.
  • Monitor global coffee market trends, supply and demand dynamics, currency fluctuations, and macroeconomic drivers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with producers, shipping agents, warehouses, and buyers.
  • Oversee logistics, quality control, and documentation to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, pricing, and opportunities within the coffee sector.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for efficient trading.
  • Analyze trade performance and prepare reports for management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of proven experience in coffee or trading green beans, or commodity trading (agricultural softs preferred).
  • Strong consultative sales skills and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of global coffee markets, pricing mechanisms, and trading platforms.
  • Experience in risk management, hedging strategies, and futures/options.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and market signals.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
