The company seeks a Mid-level Gasoline Blending Operator in Geneva to manage post-deal trading activities, coordinate blending operations, and support traders with commercial and logistical execution.

This position serves as the primary link between the commercial desk and external partners, overseeing the execution of gasoline blending operations. The role ensures that trade tickets are accurately reflected in contracts and tenders, while providing necessary market insights to traders. By coordinating post-deal activities, the operator guarantees efficient contract fulfillment and resolves any logistical or quality issues that arise during the voyage or storage phases.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main liaison between the commercial team and external parties regarding blended gasoline cargoes.
  • Collaborate with terminal operators and vessel crews to align physical blending activities with trader expectations.
  • Verify product quality with inspection agencies to ensure compliance with blend plans and contractual terms.
  • Analyze quantity discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective measures.
  • Resolve operational conflicts when plans shift and propose viable solutions.
  • Optimize terminal scheduling to reduce demurrage costs.
  • Track vessel stowage plans and monitor voyage progress.
  • Select third-party vendors according to company policy and oversee vessel acceptance and chartering processes.
  • Coordinate with the Finance department to supply data for Letters of Credit and Payment Undertakings.
  • Manage customs documentation for exports and imports as required.
  • Maintain electronic shipping files and keep the Pluto system updated with minimal exceptions.
  • Conduct voyage and storage reconciliations to identify financial gains or losses.
  • Alert the deals desk to transaction costs and maintain awareness of profit and loss impacts.
  • Optimize operational efficiency to maximize commercial benefit and meet contractual duties.
  • Pursue and secure payments for third-party claims.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal support teams, including claims, finance, and chartering.
  • Mentor junior operations staff to enhance their commercial and technical knowledge.
  • Adhere to internal codes of conduct, health and safety policies, and business principles.
  • Escalate significant operational issues to the Regional Manager when necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years in cargo operations within a global oil trading firm.
  • Prior experience with gasoline cargo operations, particularly blending.
  • Skill in interpreting contract operational requirements and understanding the underlying legal framework.
  • Knowledge of charter party terms and their interaction with oil contracts, including ship operations terminology.
  • Familiarity with petroleum product specifications, laboratory precision, and inspection procedures.
  • Understanding of financial instruments, Letters of Indemnity (LOIs), and shipping documents.

Nice to have

  • Experience handling multiple product desks, such as distillates and fuel oil.
  • Familiarity with Pluto or comparable trade operations management software.
  • Background in storage logistics and reconciliation processes.
