Sustainability Specialist

The company seeks a Sustainability Specialist in Geneva to manage mass balance operations and ensure compliance with the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and biofuels standards.

This position focuses on maintaining regulatory adherence for bio- and renewable fuels, specifically regarding the European Renewable Energy Directive. The specialist will handle daily mass balance procedures, provide policy guidance, and support the team within a global, fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze laws and regulations related to biofuels and renewable energy sources.
• Ensure adherence to voluntary scheme standards for biofuels and the requirements set by the Renewable Energy Directive.
• Keep mass balance records accurate, reconcile data, and prepare necessary documentation for audit purposes.
• Generate and distribute reports for both internal teams and external partners.
• Evaluate contracts to verify they meet all sustainability compliance criteria.
• Attend training sessions, audits, and meetings on behalf of the department, including necessary international travel.

Requirements

• Previous work experience in sustainability within the biodiesel or biofuels industry.
• High level of expertise in using Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex datasets and monitor regulatory changes in the biofuels sector.
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Excellent organizational skills to handle several priorities at once.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team while taking a proactive stance on solving problems.
