Proxima Group AG seeks a Computational Biologist in Zürich to build an AI-driven drug discovery platform, focusing on protein interactions and therapeutic modalities.
The company is developing an AI-driven approach to drug discovery by making protein interactions programmable. This position focuses on building a leading platform for novel induced proximity therapeutic modalities, working closely with Computational Chemistry, Machine Learning, and Application Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Build large-scale data pipelines and develop pilot capabilities from scratch.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance research projects through code, analyses, benchmarks, and optimization strategies.
- Incorporate biological insights into advanced AI and machine learning models designed for drug discovery.
- Validate and interpret computational predictions through close collaboration with experimental researchers.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a closely related discipline.
- Combined academic and/or industrial background, with preference for biotech industry experience.
- Strong expertise in computational structural or systems biology.
- Proficient programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
- Proven experience in creating reproducible and scalable computational biology workflows.
- Background in designing and applying machine learning models.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with geometric deep learning, graph neural networks, protein language models, transformers, and representation learning.
- Prior exposure to drug discovery challenges.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure.
- Agile project management skills.
