The International Organization for Migration seeks a Senior Consultant to oversee the 2026 Yearly Declaration of Interests exercise in Geneva, ensuring compliance and managing conflict-of-interest assessments.
This consultant position sits within the Ethics and Conduct Unit of the Office of Ethics and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment. The primary purpose of the role is to manage the complete lifecycle of the organization’s 2026 Yearly Declaration of Interests, ensuring rigorous oversight and adherence to ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate roughly 200 disclosure forms to verify accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
- Analyze submissions to detect actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.
- Spot inconsistencies, gaps, or incomplete data that may require further guidance from the Ethics and Conduct Unit.
- Contact relevant personnel to clarify details or resolve ambiguities in their declarations.
- Draft closure messages that include compliance assessments and suggested mitigation steps.
- Maintain concise case notes for each reviewed disclosure.
- Develop actionable recommendations, such as risk classifications or follow-up needs.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant to keep internal databases current and accurate.
- Update and refine outreach materials, including webinar content and communication assets.
- Support the delivery of up to four interactive outreach sessions, each lasting one hour.
- Provide bi-weekly progress reports detailing review outcomes, compliance rates, and emerging trends.
- Deliver a final end-of-assignment report featuring a comprehensive summary, key trends, and proposed revisions.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree in Law, Ethics, Public Administration, Governance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in compliance, conflicts of interest, ethics reviews, or due diligence analysis.
- Proven track record of assessing declarations of conflicts of interest.
- Familiarity with the operational context of public international or non-governmental organizations similar to IOM.
- Demonstrated ability to draft high-quality internal and external reports.
- Experience handling sensitive environments and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Prior work experience within the United Nations system, IOM, or another international organization.
- Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French.
