Senior AML Compliance Officer (6-month contract)

The company seeks a Senior AML Compliance Officer on a 6-month contract in Geneva. The role focuses on operational due diligence for Private Banking clients, ensuring adherence to Swiss regulations and internal standards within the Onboarding team.

This position is a 6-month contract based in Geneva, where the officer will join the Onboarding team. The role requires conducting operational due diligence in line with CDB standards, FINMA Ordinance, and Swiss AML law to manage client onboarding and review processes effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational due diligence reviews aligned with CDB standards, FINMA Ordinance, and Swiss AML law.
  • Execute onboarding, change of circumstances, and event-triggered assessments for Private Banking clients.
  • Assist with periodic reviews during busy periods.
  • Perform background checks for required roles using SmartKYC and open media sources.
  • Draft compliance risk assessments focusing on account purpose, background, source of wealth/funds, negative news, risk scoring, and transaction analysis.
  • Submit cases to the Due Diligence Committee for high-risk, very high-risk, PEP, or newly identified material risk clients.
  • Track follow-up actions and validate systems within the CRM.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex structures and PEP-related inquiries for prospect and onboarding advice.
  • Provide AML guidance to Front Office, Client Lifecycle Management, and other collaborative teams.
  • Meet strict deadlines to complete compliance reviews per regulatory and business needs.
  • Collaborate promptly with Front Office to balance regulatory compliance with business goals.
  • Assist the Swiss Head of Compliance Onboarding and Review with special tasks, including audit preparation and follow-up.

Requirements

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in due diligence and AML reviews within financial services.
  • Fluency in French and English is required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Experience managing private client due diligence and relevant market coverage.
  • Proven ability to handle complex cases, including high-risk, PEP, and complex structures.
  • Thorough knowledge of AML, CDB, FATCA, tax, and CRS aspects.
  • Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent academic/professional qualification.
  • Ability to summarize complex information, make sound decisions, escalate when needed, and work under pressure.
  • Capability to write detailed compliance assessments in English, documenting risks and mitigants clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with a focus on building relationships with Front Office and senior management.
  • Swiss residency and 100% onsite work in Geneva with no remote work options.
