Director, Performance Management and Capabilities Building (Academies)

Sonova seeks a Director of Performance Management and Capabilities Building to lead global learning, talent development, and performance frameworks, driving strategy and execution across its international operations.

In this strategic leadership role, you will shape and execute Sonova’s global strategies for learning, performance management, and talent development. You will oversee the Academies framework, coaching initiatives, graduate programs, and scalable learning solutions, while partnering with senior leaders to embed robust performance management practices that drive accountability and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the global Academies framework to build critical organizational capabilities.
  • Design and deliver coaching and mentoring programs, utilizing AI-enabled tools to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Manage graduate development programs and scalable learning offerings to support talent growth at all levels.
  • Evolve and maintain the performance management framework, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and leadership expectations.
  • Lead goal-setting processes for the Top 200 leaders to foster accountability and clear performance standards.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to embed performance management practices that drive high performance.
  • Design and execute individual career journeys for the Top 200 talent, supporting personalized growth and succession planning.
  • Oversee flagship talent development programs, including approach design, assessment methodologies, and delivery.
  • Develop and implement people leadership standards and related programs to strengthen leadership capabilities.
  • Manage talent review processes to ensure robust assessment and calibration of talent across business units.
  • Collaborate with HR Strategy and Org E&E to align talent development efforts with organizational capability needs.
  • Partner with HR Strategy to develop and maintain a comprehensive skills architecture and taxonomy for workforce planning.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in global learning, leadership development, and performance management.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Experience leading diverse, geographically dispersed teams and programs across EMEA, Americas, and APAC.
  • Proven capability in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and quality assurance processes.
  • Expertise in learning management systems (e.g., SuccessFactors) and other digital tools.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within learning and talent development strategies.
  • Experience working within a corporate headquarters environment.

  • Formal training or qualification in talent development or coaching.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages.
