Roche seeks a Disease Area Head for CVRM in Basel to lead strategic direction, manage large multidisciplinary teams, and drive the development of innovative healthcare solutions.
This position sits within the Global Pharma Strategy team, where the incumbent will define the strategic path for an innovative product portfolio. The role focuses on converting scientific breakthroughs into accessible treatments for patients globally. It carries significant weight over the company’s strategic, financial, and operational outcomes by directing large-scale, cross-functional groups.
Responsibilities
- Direct large, diverse teams while influencing the Disease Area’s strategic, financial, and operational goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and cross-functional partners to define end-to-end strategies and plans.
- Guide the future portfolio direction and oversee the early development of new molecules and products.
- Manage senior leaders responsible for coordinating global R&D, technical, manufacturing, and commercial activities.
- Work with the Disease Area Team to create and execute long-term Roche strategies.
- Drive the creation of key strategic documents, including pre-TPPs and breakthrough indication plans.
- Control the Disease Area budget to meet financial targets and optimize how resources are used.
- Connect with therapeutic experts, patient groups, industry leaders, and biotech firms to shape the external ecosystem.
Requirements
- Proven ability to lead and develop people in multicultural and virtual settings.
- Background in managing large cross-functional organizations, ideally within drug R&D, pre-launch, or launch phases.
- Strong knowledge of the competitive landscape within the CVRM Disease Area.
- Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, with specific therapeutic area expertise in CVRM.
- Master's degree is mandatory.
- Fluency in English is required for daily operations.
Nice to have
- MD, PhD, or MBA qualifications are highly desirable.
- Prior experience collaborating with business development or acquisition teams.
- Demonstrated history of identifying opportunities that improved results beyond direct management scope.
