Swiss TPH seeks an Economic Evaluation Specialist to conduct cost-effectiveness analyses for public health interventions in low- and middle-income countries. This mid-level role supports research and offers opportunities for scientific leadership.
This position focuses on the economic assessment of strategies to control infectious diseases in resource-limited settings. It is designed for early-career researchers, such as Master’s graduates preparing for doctoral studies, or PhD holders aiming to establish their independent scientific profiles within a global health context.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the costs and cost-effectiveness of various strategies aimed at controlling infectious diseases.
- Participate in and support additional projects within the research unit as needed.
- Take the lead in securing funding for research initiatives that align with both the unit’s objectives and the candidate’s specific scientific interests.
Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology (with a strong quantitative background), or Applied Statistics.
- Show proven interest and hands-on experience in transmission modeling of infectious diseases, including simulation-based probabilistic cost-effectiveness analysis.
- Possess advanced programming capabilities in at least one of the following: R, Matlab, or Python.
- Have experience with documentation practices and either prior experience with git version control or a willingness to learn it.
- Demonstrate excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Exhibit strong communication abilities, a collaborative team spirit, and initiative, with the capacity to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Be self-directed and capable of organizing multiple projects and meeting concurrent deadlines while working both independently and as part of a team.

- Practical, on-the-ground experience in costing health interventions.
