Laboratory expert

Swiss TPH seeks a senior laboratory expert to provide consultancy within the Swiss Centre for International Health, focusing on diagnostic management in resource-limited settings.

This position involves serving as a consultant within a specialized pool of experts for short-term assignments. The role is embedded in the Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH), an entity dedicated to consultancy, project management, training, and applied research in global health.

Requirements

• Hold an advanced university degree in medical biology or pharmacy.
• Possess at least ten years of professional experience in laboratory services and the management of diagnostic products.
• Demonstrate prior engagement with international agencies regarding the enhancement of laboratory services or diagnostic equipment matters.
• Show deep familiarity with diagnostic platforms utilized for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria programs in low-resource environments.
• Exhibit proven expertise in Quality Assurance (QA) systems, the selection of laboratory diagnostics, and the implementation of diagnostic programs, particularly in resource-constrained areas.
• Apply working knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices for diagnostic products.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the WHO prequalification program and the activities of the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF).
• Have experience drafting policy documents and technical guidelines.
• Display strong analytical, writing, and reporting capabilities alongside excellent spoken communication skills.
• Demonstrate excellent command of English.
• Be fluent in French.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is considered a significant advantage.
• Ability to operate effectively under pressure and experience working in fragile or challenging operational environments is beneficial.
• Prior experience within the not-for-profit sector is viewed favorably.
